$716 Genetic Reconstruction Test

A genetic reconstruction test is designed to establish if a child is biologically related to direct blood relatives on their father’s side of the family. The test is performed when the father in question cannot be directly involved in the test and a direct father-child paternity test cannot be carried out.

Postal and Delivery times are constantly changing. Whilst every effort is made to reduce time where possible this cannot always be achieved due to actions outside our control. The times quoted are from the time the final sample is received.

About this test

The test starts from only  $716 and results are available in 7 working days. This test works by taking the DNA of the child and comparing this against that of at least three close blood relatives on the alleged father’s side of the family. Typically for best results you should seek the DNA of a paternal brother, sister, mother, or father.

Important Note

If the mother of the child is available for the test, you will need the DNA of 2 other close relatives in the alleged father’s family. On the other hand, if the mother is not available you need to provide DNA samples from 3 of the alleged father’s close relatives. This test is extremely accurate if all samples from required participants can be collected.

DNA is different in everyone; however, in close relatives there are many similar genetic markers due to hereditary patterns. Once in the laboratory, the DNA will be analyzed to look for these shared genetic markers to determine whether or not the alleged father is the biological father of the child.

Other testing options

In cases where you cannot carry out a genetic reconstruction test due to relatives not willing to be tested or unavailable for the test, we suggest you consider our various relationship testing options. These options may not be as accurate as a genetic reconstruction test but can provide very conclusive results depending on the type of test you choose. Relationship tests include sibling DNA testing and grandparents DNA testing. Generally, in relationship DNA tests, including the sample of a known parent (generally the mother) will help give you a more accurate result.
