DNA Testing for Twins

easyDNA offers an accurate and concise Twins DNA test which will enable one to determine whether twins are identical or fraternal. Whilst classification of the twins as being either fraternal or identical is often done on the basis of the similarity of facial features, this is indeed an unreliable and flawed method.

easyDNA offers Twins DNA testing with precise and clear results which will tell you whether the twins tested are fraternal or not. Once the required samples are sent to our laboratories and tested, we will issues results which will highlight the DNA profiles; if the profiles are the same, the twins are identical.  However, a non-identical profile means that twins are not identical but rather full siblings.

The Twin DNA Test is offered at $399 for two siblings to be tested, with an additional cost of $200 for each added sibling that requires being tested.

The tests are reliable and carried out in our accredited and state of the art laboratory to provide results which are 99.99% accurate. Reliability is further enhanced by the analysis of 16 genetic markers.  Our customers can choose between the standard return of results between 5 and 7 business days, or opt for our Express Option and have results delivered in just 48 hours after the samples are received.

Twin Zygosity Test – Why do it?

From our experience most tests are requested for curiosity purposes either by the parents or the actual twins themselves to have scientific certainty of their status. However, this information can also serve other purposes particularly in cases which involve medical interventions since understanding whether you are a twin or not can influence decisions such as organ dontation and bone marrow translplants.
