The Port Huron Police Department have released a statement saying that they have been able to close a 2-year investigation into the Walgreen Pharmacy robberies of 2007. In September and October 2007, a subject identified as wearing a hat and windbreaker jacket robbed the Walgreen’s Pharmacy located at 1617 10th Street. In both robberies staff were threatened and robbed of money. Police collected forensic evidence at the scene of both crimes, including DNA evidence, which has led them to a 47-year-old man from Port Huron. The suspect was already being held at the St. Clair County Jail, and has been sentenced to prison on a previous charge of making a bomb threat. Charged today for unarmed robbery, Michael Wayne McGinnis, is also being charged with habitual offending, this being his fourth offense notice with 3 prior felony convictions. According to police, a conviction plus the habitual offense notice could lead to a life sentence. Members of the Michigan State Police Crime Lab have assisted the Port Huron Police Department in their investigation. easyDNA specialize in the provision of reliable, accurate and confidential DNA paternity tests.
